NAIA, DIV II whatever they were. I hope our attendance will get a much needed boost next year , but I also know that we live in a what have you done for me lately world. I attended all home games I could ( work permitting ) but I simply had no interest in seeing Jarvis Christian or Belhaven this past season. If we are to gain more fan fare I hope we can schedule some more decent regional teams. You guys think our schedule will have a different look next year ?? I sure hope so!!

I think our schedule wll be different next year. But, some teams may shy away from us becuase of our strength. My hope is that we have a great season and have one of those bracket buster games at home against another strong mid major. I'd enjoy seeing UNT vs. Winthrop, Butler or Xavier.

Until NT greatly improves their attendance I see nothing wrong with the scheduling of two or even three non !A schools. Almost every school does schedule victories these days. Given a choice between playing lower level 1a schools and drawing 1500 and having to return the game and bringing in a non-1a and drawing 1200, I would take the latter. Also unlike playing a 200+ rpi 1a school that lowers your rpi, the non-ia do not count at all.

You may find that these NAIA games were necessary to fill out our HOME game schedule.

Good point , you probably right. Hopefully now we can get some good home and home deals.

But on the flip side , im sure there were a few lower division teams this year who could of beat us at any point in the season. We didn't hit our stride till the very end. If this were to ever happen in the future ( lose to a NAIA,Div II ) we could automatically eliminate any chances of getting a possible NIT bid , or if we won the SBC again and had a bad loss , we would for sure be in the dreaded "play in" game.

The strength of the SBC should keep us out the play in game. There were 11 worse conferences this season(according to the RPI anyways), and it was a down year for the Belt.

Maybe Memphis and UNT could work something out, I like Billy Bob's and we have to quit meeting in NO, BB sch means everything.

Get CUSA to dump SMU or Rice, add NT as a member. NT and Memphis wouldn't have a problem scheduling one another, would we? :whistling1:

I hope Jones can parlay this into a better schedule.

I hope he can schedule Nebraska again, along with Texas Tech, SMU, TCU, Baylor, and maybe Texas. Then expand to other good schools like Memphis, Arkansas, et al.

Might end up taking a beating on some of those, but our RPI won't suffer as much.

---The Southland, and Southwestern Athletic Conf (Texas Southern) are considered D-I in basketball... and there are over 300 D-I teams, 20 in Texas. . We should be able to have schedule containing one more than 1 or 2 non-D-I teams. Several Big-XII teams played several Southwestern Conf teams.

Uh, there is no 1A in basketball. The 1A and 1AA classifications only apply to football.

It's not just about attendance. We need to give ourselves every opportunity to play in a post season tournament every season. You can't win the conference tournament every year, but it is no dishonor to play in the NIT. Playing 3 games that do not help you at all just isn't logical unless it is absolutely impossible to get D1 opponents. There are low rated D1 conferences that have teams that would be just as easy wins against D2 and NAIA teams. Please, stop scheduling these games unless it is an absolute last resort.
