--Sort of funny but Memphis fans in general have always been respectful to us.... So be careful.. But if this was SMU..!!

---At one time both us were MVC teams... I still wish them good luck except when playing NT or maybe some other Texas team.

This is all done in good fun...

they are calling for their team to skull drag us through the mud on their board cause JJ had a laugh at the notion of memphis beating Ohio State. I wonder fi tehy can hear me laughing right now?

At the 2003 New Orleans Bowl, I ended up sitting in the Memphis section (or I should say that Memphis fans ended up sitting in my section - I had my tickets before Memphis knew they were going) and I was anything but impressed with their "respectfulness." During the national anthem and moment of silence, they never stopped yelling, obviously to be intentionally obnoxious. And I don't mind a little good ol' smacktalkin', but they were over the line the whole game. Of all the sporting events I have ever attended in my life, I never remember seeing more disrespectful fans.

what do you expect- we're talking about Memphis, TN. You'd be in a bad mood too if you had to go to school in that gorgeous city on the shining brown waters of the mississippi...

And every North Texas fan is the epitome of class I'm sure.

EVERY fan base has it's share of idiots. The larger the base the more they stand out. It's unfortunate but that's human nature.

We were at that one and had to deal with an extremely obnoxious memphis fan at Pat O'briens. An older gentleman(UNT fan) was offering my brother-in-law(who was a target of the obnoxious jerk) 50.00 for the drunk's hat. It was a great moment. The drunk Memphis fan was thrown out.

Actually my experiences at the 2003 NOB with Memphis fans were extremely positive. Both before and after the game. Out of the 4 bowl games the Memphis fans were the classiest.

Pretty funny but, uh, this is not a Memphis dude. lol

I know, I just wanted to throw it in. We saw the Mavs play the Clippers last year and as he walked by heading to the tunnel I asked him to bring me back a roast duck with mango salsa.

If Memphis ever gets a MLB team, you can share the pain of the Yankees coming to town. Those people are EVERYWHERE! They're like cockroaches.

Ditto...we wound up sitting with some Memphis guys and gals at Krystal on Bourbon that night...they were all really nice folks.

Aggies are the most obnoxious and annoying fans.

Ya know...in my experience, Long-Whorns fans are worse. Primary reason being...when they run out of arguments for being a bandwagon jumper when they have no affiliation to the school...they just point out how much money their program has and how big their stupid jumbotron is.

Aggies...they're just...Aggies.

Actually Im going to have to go with Texas Tech in a landslide on this one... not only obnoxious, but have a serious case of step child syndrome. Though I must admit it makes laugh how they always beat A&M at everything because it really burns the asses of the aggies. Which brings me to the only thing that really annoys me about aggies- there is an excuse for EVERYTHING. Aggies never lose, they just run out of time. Aggies never lose, refs conspire to help the other team win. And so on and so forth.

That being said, I hope all the Texas teams go deep in the tourney. Except Tech. I hope BC beats them in the first round and Bob Knight literally explodes in the post game press conference after providing a profanity laced tirade of future ticket drops with a beet red face. That's quality programming.

I dont really remember the Memphis fans at the last NO Bowl. Perhaps because I had a couple of those Pat Os hurricanes before the game and a frozen daquiri made with 151 for the walk to the Superdome. I think everyone was really nice, and I was probably the funniest, best-looking guy I ever knew that night...

:lol::D:lol: That's great Flyer!

By the way, the memphis folks are great fans and I am looking forward to seeing them again. We could learn a lot from them by way of showing our unified spirit during the games.

And no other program has ever treated North Texas alumni and fans worst than what New Mexico St did in Las Cruces, just in case anyone is keeping track.

I'm not too sure about the Memphis fans but it has been said that UNT fans can be quite mean. I hope that whatever happens in any of our sports (when we win) that our players will be respectful and humble winners, if we lose that we wont make excuses but learn from our challenges and grow. As fans and more importantly that we will be respectful winners. I think being an obnoxious winner comes easier to a team that isn't used to winning as the excitment overtakes them. Should we win this game I hope we exhibit class and represent UNT well......and ask Memphis to do the same.

Amen!
