a promo ran during the CBS evening news that had a number of shots of Mean green basketball players. I didn't get a chance to hear it, but I assume it has some "small school" tournament tie in, I'm only assuming, though. I suspect the promo will run all weekend, especially during the selection show.

GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's the post from the Belt board by Manzano Wolf

It was announced on CBS Evening News today that on Monday there will be a

» story about the Marine that plays for the Mean Green. The national news

» this evening showed him and gave NT some great publicity.

Hmm - more props for the PR people - you know, if we win a game or two, we really would become the national underdog story...

and who knows how many visitors might get to come check out the Pokey Chatman thread?

Its totally awesome the exposure UNT has been getting the last few months....I mean we are getting more national exposure than TCU and SMU combined what it seems like....the only competition is TCU football. I can sense the tide turning now for UNT athletics....trust me the attendance will eventually rise....its just a matter of time. With the pace that we have been on the last few months then I think in 5-8 years we will really be a great athletics school and a notch or two below a major conference school.

It is amazing exposure for UNT, but let's not forget about Rich Young, the reason for the story. I am looking forward to watching it because it is not often that a veteran gets that kind of publicity, and any time we get a chance to thank or support those men and women, we should.

Thanks Rich, for what you have done for this country and for representing our university so well.
