Based on our record I don't think that we will be the play in game. If ASU won then they might of been in it with their 14 losses ( depending on how other small conference tourneys turn out )

Im memory serves me correct , I think this will be the 3rd year for the "play in" game.

I think it's been around since the MWC formed(that was the reason for the game actually). So...like 6-7 years.

They play that game on the Tuesday after Selection Sunday (so a week from tonight), in Dayton, Ohio. It's a pain for the winner, especially if they have to hightail it to the West Coast for a Thursday game...although usually the play-in winner plays on Friday. It almost goes without saying that the play-in winner has never won their second tournament game.

Without repeating my post earlier in another thread, remember that the seeding is subjective. W-L and RPI count, but so do intangibles; the NCAA explictly states that RPI is only a partial measurement because it doesn't include the intangibles. Only the actual humans who assign the seeds can account for those.

One of the examples the NCAA rules offer as an intangible that can affect a seed is how well a team did during the absence of a key player. We won two playoff games without KD, who without question is a key player, and won the second of those in a very convincing manner -- just the kind of guts the tourney pickers are looking for.

Bottom line: I'm pretty sure our guys played their way out of the play-in game tonight.

I'd like to think we played our way out tonight. Nonetheless, I'm gonna be pulling for upsets in alot of the mid major leagues if only to assure it. Heck, if we can get a 15 seed even better.
