New Orleans, LA and Heathrow, FL – The Sun Belt Conference and the America Channel announced today that they have entered into a video sports broadcast and content cooperation agreement. The new agreement covers women’s basketball and additional sports to be announced later. Every SBC member institution will be appear in the America Channel’s broadcasts, including Arkansas State University, University of Arkansas-Little Rock (UALR), Denver University, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, University of New Orleans, North Texas, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Middle Tennessee, South Alabama, Troy, and Western Kentucky University. “The Sun Belt Conference has an outstanding athletic tradition and we’re proud to be working together,” stated Doron Gorshein, CEO of The America Channel. “The SBC member institutions also have student populations which are unique, diverse, and excel in many areas. For example, a number of Sun Belt schools have been extensively involved in the rebuilding efforts in the Gulf Coast following Hurricane Katrina. We look forward to working with the Sun Belt Conference to showcase their exciting sports, and their exceptional students and student athletes as part of our SportsLife initiative.”

The America Channel previously announced its SportsLife ™ initiative, pursuant to which The America Channel and its Conference partners, their Student Athletic Advisory Committees (SAACs) and Universities, will cooperate to create video content about the aspirations, achievements, challenges, adventures, community service, and lifestyles of students and student athletes. “We are excited about this relationship and the opportunities it provides for increased attention to our conference,” said Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Wright Waters. “It will certainly result in our women’s basketball programs receiving some much deserved exposure. In addition, The America Channel will be a new forum to showcase our exceptional student athletes. We look forward to participating in this wonderful initiative.”

The America Channel has now partnered with 14 NCAA Division I Conferences. The America Channel previously announced sports broadcast and content relationships with the Big South Conference, Southern Conference, Southland Conference, Big West Conference, Colonial Athletic Association, Big Sky Conference, America East Conference, Patriot League, Atlantic Sun Conference, and Ivy League. In addition, three more conference television deals will be announced later.
