I saw where Grand Prairie got a minor league baseball team. Don't know what level or team affiliation. That was in the DMN.

We have been awarded a team in the American Association...the same league of the Fort Worth Cats. If the citizens vote for the stadium, it will be a $16.7 million dollar stadium, including 12 luxury boxes and the stadium would be ready for the 2008 season. The citizens will vote in May. 1/8 cent sales tax that would be paid off in about 7 years. It would not be a new sales tax. Lone Star Park is being paid off 18 years early. The citizens will also vote on a new 15 million dollar Senior Citizen Center (1/8 cent) and 1/4 cent for a new Police/Fire Administration building.

The American Association is the grand daddy of non-affiliated minor league baseball with teams also in St. Paul, Lincoln, Nebraska, Pennsacola, Florida, Shreveport, La., El Paso, Texas to name a few...
