Southlake Carroll QB Dodge, RB Newton will be at Texas' Junior Day

Southlake Carroll standout juniors Riley Dodge and Tre' Newton will be among several of the state's top high school football players attending this weekend's Junior Day at the University of Texas. It's Texas' second Junior Day this year.

Dodge, a quarterback, and Newton, a running back, are the key offensive players on Carroll's team, ranked among the nation's best the last few seasons. Newton is the son of former Dallas Cowboys OL Nate Newton.

Dodge's father, Todd, is a former quarterback at Texas. Todd left Carroll in December to take the head coaching job at North Texas. Riley grew up around the Austin Westlake program, where his grandfather -- Ebbie Neptune -- was the head coach and athletic director for several years. Riley recently returned from a trip to Lubbock, where he took in Texas Tech's Junior Day.

Dodge and Newton are winners. Texas should snag both of them while they have a chance.

Here's my Question - Does North Texas have a Junior Day? Why wouldn't we?
