2007 NIKE Football Training Camp and NIKE Combine information

There has been much speculation as to the status of the NIKE Football Training Camps in the past year with the passing of new NCAA legislation. Are the NIKE Camps still happening? What will they be like? What are NIKE Combines? Here are the answers...

Please be advised....Due to new NCAA legislation passed this year -

A) There is no longer combine testing allowed on Division I or I-AA campuses, goes for camps/combines and college camps as well

College coaches can no longer attend combine/testing events during the spring evaluation period

In light of these changes, Student Sports has made two changes to what we do. In the past, the NIKE Football Training camps have been held in April-June on college campuses and include testing, SPARQ Training, football drills and 1-on-1s.

This year, the NIKE Football Training camps will remain on Division I campuses (schedule to be released next week), but with no testing and increased time and focus on speed training and coaching so the top players can improve themselves whether they have 20 offers or no offers.

Since there will be no testing at the NIKE Camps, college coaches may still attend on camps that fall on evaluation dates between April 15-May 31st.

In addition, we will be putting on 17 NIKE Combines at locations around the country, which kicked off last weekend and will run up to the NIKE Camp schedule. Below is the '07 NIKE Combine schedule:

Again, we will NOT be combine testing at the NIKE Football Training Camps this spring. Top prospects expecting to attend the NIKE Camp later must understand that in order for them to get testing numbers and a SPARQ Rating (that we in turn pass off to the colleges) they must attend a NIKE Combine.

The NIKE Combines are testing events for top returning athletes (Class of '08 and '09) to get tested in the 40, shuttle, vertical jump and bench press (reps of 185 lbs.). As at all of our events, athletes have the ability to scratch any time or mark they are not happy with, so it cannot "hurt their stock." Top performers will be invited back to the later NIKE Camps.

Online pre-registration has been activated for the 2007 NIKE Combines here. Players do not need to preregister online, as walkups are accepted, but it is strongly encouraged. The NIKE Combines are FREE of charge and every athlete that signs up and participates will receive a NIKE Pro shirt to work out in. Registration will run from 9-11 at each combine and there are driving directions as well on the Student Sports football website.
