Kevin had the best performance at last weekends Dallas Morning News Classic with 35. Undersized 2 guard at 6-0. Was Kevin Busby until this year when he picked up Donnell's last name.

The second best performance was from Nolan Dennis, younger brother of UNT redshirt transfer Collin Dennis. Unfortunately, Nolan is a national recruit from Richland. Kid is 6-5 and can play the point or 2. Can flat out play!

Kevin Busby-Hayden seems to be improving by each passing game, but the 6'1" combo guard from Dallas Spruce hasn't received the type of respect from the recruiters that he deserves. This past weekend at the Dallas ISD Classic, Busby-Hayden gave the fans a game to remember against Dallas Carter in which he scored a career high, 35 points. If you haven't seen him play yet, there is still time as Spruce receives a free pass to the second round of the playoffs in Region 2-4A.

Busby-Hayden is averaging 14 points and 4 assist per game.

"We played good, and played great D. We shut them down at the end," said Busby-Hayden after their 77-68 victory over the Cowboys. "We need to work harder to make it to state. That is our goal."

Before the game, Busby-Hayden had a few words for his head coach, Lyndon Love. "He told me that it has been four years since we've tried to get into this showcase, and he's going to give our team something special." Love says that Busby-Hayden can turn the switch on during any game, but does a great job of getting everyone involved. "He can score like this every night, but he is so unselfish. The coaching staff, we sometimes get on him for passing the ball too much and passing up shots. He is an All-State performer and is as good as anyone around here."

Even with the victory, Love sees the area that needs improvement if the Timberwolves are to advance in the playoffs. "We need to do a better job of rebounding and not turn the ball over. It's a one game season and we are going to get back into the gym and how ever it comes out, we will have to see."

As the games get bigger, Busby-Hayden takes his game to another level. He hopes that offers and more attention will come along with it. "North Texas, American University, and Colin County are looking at me, but I have no offers." Busby-Hayden really likes what North Texas has to offer with its location and conference. But there is another reason why he would love to play there. "My father went to school there and played."

Busby-Hayden states that he is a qualifier.

Dallas Spruce will play the winner of Waxahachie and Waco University.

Texas Hoops Analysis:KEVIN is a combo guard that runs the point very well, he is heady with the ball, makes good decisions, moves without the ball, has a good understanding of the game, will get the ball to the open man, runs the run, is a good defender, has a soft outside stroke, will penetrate and pull-up for a mid-range jumper.
