OK, let's do a hypothetical situation here:

We're 18-9 right now, with 2 very winnable games remaining. Let's say we win both, and finish the regular season at 20-9.

This will more than likely get us the 4 or 5 seed, and a first round home tournament game against a weak team. Another game we should win, putting us at 21-9.

Now, this puts us in the tourney in Lafayette against another 4 or 5 seed, a game that's basically a toss-up. If we win this game, we'll be put against a South Alabama in the 2nd round.

My point is that 21 wins should definately happen, and 22 wins with a semifinal loss in the conference tourney is definately do-able.

My question is: Does 21-22 wins get us an NIT bid? If I remember correctly, 3 teams from the Sun Belt made the NIT last year, and we have the 2nd best overall record in the Belt behind South Alabama.

What does everyone think?

If we'd won the West I'd say decent odds of getting into the NIT(I'm not sure they'd be REQUIRED to take us because we didn't win the regular season conference as a whole, but they'd prolly do so anyways). But, no....we don't have a chance otherwise. I doubt even if we lost in the SBC final by 1 in 3OT.

The good news--the NIT would love to have a team out of this market. The bad news--with our attendance figures we couldn't host a UIL game. Thank for all the innovative moves that had them beating down the doors to get into the Super Pit. There is nothing that gets the blood moving like a good hamburger pig out at halftime. From the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, the Kilgore Rangerettes, the Bud Light Daredevils to a halftime hamburger barf. Nice job.

We've had the Cowboys Cheerleaders, Kilgore Rangerettes, & Budlight Daredevils in the Pit?

Seen them all at the Pit

This season?

No, it would actually take somebody who was tying to draw a crowd to the SuperPit and that leaves out everybody in Ricky V's administration.

When we did the student "Pack the Pit" promotion, we hosted UTA. Jimmy Gales' team had won three games going into the UTA game....we had over 4,000 for that game. Thanks to all who made it possible.
