Yup, in front of an anti-American (at the time) crowd. Real brave. Way to promote free speech.

Speaking of, have the Chicksie Dicks ever acknowledged that, while it's fine to say it's free speech, ever acknowledged that it's also our right not to buy the crap they're trowling out? To my knowledge, I've only seen Natalie on video tape denying that right. Hmmmmmmmmmm. Sounds like it works when they want it to...

Sorry, touchy subject

I don't think the issue was their album and ticket sales. The issue was with the uneducated rednecks sending them death threats.

This is a real question because I haven't listened to any of their new stuff. Why did they win these awards? Did the comments vault them into coolness and away from the country label according to many voting for these things? Did the comments simply bring more attention to them and made them a "story" and easier to vote for? Or did they really have a great CD?

In the past, I didn't listen to them because country music is filled with blind patriotism and (what I have always taken as) bigotry. They have a long history of following one credo and shunning those that don't think that way. Therefore, I don't ever listen to pop-country. I like some alt-country (Old 97's, Uncle Tupelo, etc). They don't fit into this mold.

When the DC's started spouting off, it aligned with my thinking ... the country music world acted the way I thought they would... so I decided to give them a chance. Being that I like bluegrass (for instance Allison Kraus) and some of their stuff fits into that genre.. I liked what I heard. If it weren't for their political darts, I would have never even put them on my playlist.

I am not a "fan", but I do appreciate their music.

I think that Natalie is a bit of a loose cannon... but it doesn't bother me.

They certainly aren't anti-American.
