I'm starting to wonder if we'll even host a 1st round game now.

The remaining four games are winnable. ULL and Denver, both pretty bad...are the road games. UALR and ASU, at home. (Yes, I know they both beat us badly in Arkansas....but in Denton, it should be a different story).

All I'm saying....a good coach could easily win out...in regular season. We'll see what JJ does.

We need to be in the top 8 to host. I think right now we're at #6. We'd get Lafayette at the SuperPit.

Wasnt there a sunbelt tourney each year and it was in a different locale, and all toruney teams played each other until their was a champion. the super pit hosted it a few years back.

Yes, back when there were 11 basketball playing conference teams, we hosted the tournament.

This year, there are 13 basketball playing conference teams. The first-round is being played at campus sites this year, with the top 3 teams getting a bye. The next 5 (seeds 4-8) host seeds 9-13. The 5 winners plus the 3 byes go to Lafayette (the host this year) for the remainder of the tournament.

The Sun Belt has never had its tournament like this before, but other conferences do this as well. I believe this is how the Southland tournament is done.

I like this feature much better, we can at least root for our team in a playoff type atmosphere in town.

Southland does do this but they only take Top 8 teams not every team in the conference.
