I am as much of a treehugger as anyone.

Loggers in the NW ran into the same problem when trying to clear trees.

Solution: double the replacement. For every tree cut down, plant 2. Granted a sapling can not replace the oxygen that an older tree can, but in time....

They already WERE going to do that. The protesters wanted the trees uprooted and replanted plus the 2 for 1.

Univ. of Texas moved 16 trees during renovation.

Several phases of the $176 million project have been underway, and some have been completed, including the rerouting of all area utilities; the renovated Carpenter-Winkel Centennial Room (9th floor of Bellmont Hall); a refurbished press box and media center (8th floor of Bellmont Hall); the upgrading of all stadium audio and video systems; the addition of a Daktronics Prostar video screen (at the time of installation the world's largest high definition scoreboard); and the relocation of 16 majestic old oak trees to other locations near the stadium.

GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!

Looks like their main concern is the seismic fault. But while on the subject: I have a 60 year old oak out in my back yard that if someone said they were going to have to cut it down, I would be VERY upset. Likewise the one in my front yard, which was planted in 1955.

I understand Jim. We have an 80 plus year oak in our front yard and 70 plus one in the back. I would be very upset if anyone or anything (like hurricanes) took them down. They're pretty and provide all-important summer shade.

To completely hijack the thread.........

Could someone take the "Come and Take It" flag, color it green with all the words/pictures in white? Then change the star into an eagle clutching the cannon? I need a really cool flag to fly on game day and want something unique.

We've got an eagle....and we've got a cannon (Boomer). I think that would look cool.

No. Since Houston Dynamo fans started using the flag, it is now tainted.
