Since I brought up Darrell Daniels as an underrated player, here are my most underrated players of the gmg.com era:

1) DE Darrell Daniels - More disruptive than most seem to remember him.

2) FB Mike Hickmon - The NMSU game at Fouts alone should have cemented his place in Mean Green lore.

3) DT Mike Pruitt - Had the misfortune of stepping into Boogers shoes, if we had him now people would name thier kids after him.

Honorable mention goes to Kevin Howard, who had a monster (for the DD era) receiving game against Cinci, and would flat out block every play.

Who else belongs on the list?

The NMSU game was just a microcosm of Hickmon. It seemed like for 2 years he came up huge at the biggest times.

Booger still has my vote, though. I don't remember many players that could single-handedly affect a game like he did. As big and disruptive as he was in the trenches, he was deceptively fast. A guy with Redwood trees for thighs should NOT have been able to catch Jiles (LaMo QB) from behind when he was 20 yards out wide after a rollout.

Boy, there were some that were knocking on Hall during his nice runs. Raise your hand if you miss him after the last 2 seasons.

The way Cobbs hit the holes was a beautiful site to see. Cobbs = Clockwork Green

I can't NOT mention Kassell and Spencer. Damn we had some nice LBers for a while.

No question in my mind it was Brewster. He was the heart and soul of the UNT offense while he was here. He blocked for 3 different 1,000 yard rushers and 2 national champions not to mention keeping Hall and Smith comfortable. More than anyone his loss hit the UNT offense the hardest. Had he been here (and by here I mean on the field) the last 2 years I can assure you our offense would not have struggled nearly as much as it has nor would we have had the QB problems.

---I voted for Brewster since offensive lineman rarely get there due and the above stated it all plus he started FOUR years, BUT Booger was the most interesting to watch and the UT comments (Mack Brown) after their game against Booger said it all about him. Simms and been sacked 8 times and Booger was in their backfield all night. He was not a happy camper after NT shut them down the lst 2.5 quarters. Both would have been NFL players if they had been larger, ability was not a problem, size was.

---Love the video of Booger against ?MTSU? .

Cody Spencer, Taylor Casey, Chris Hurd, Brad Kassell... we had an embarrassment of riches.

Jonas Buckles, Craig Jones, Markeith Knowlton... how ridiculous is it when Knowlton had to sit... Aaron Weathers ranks with them.

1) We've been gmg.com since 2001

2) No one was as good as Booger:

3) Darrell Daniels was the best DE in gmg.com history.

Please take notes, there will be a test. emot-degree.gif

He terrorized posters for years with his dominating play in the threads. Nawt too shahbby on da field, eider. B)

Darrell Daniels is El Guapo, there, I can't hide it anymore.

Just kidding... as far as I know.

Scott Hall and Johnny Quinn are my all-time favorite players, but BOOGER had the biggest impact, and meant the most to his team while he was here, both on the field and as a locker room guy from all that I have heard

Scott Hall was a mediocre QB. He did what was asked of him (usually a play action pass after about 20 run plays). He didn't make a lot of stupid mistakes, which was good. but he is far from the BEST we have had...

give me Brandon Kennedy. No question. He was a nightmare in pretty much every game he played including the already mentioned UT game. Then there was the Baylor game where he scored that TD off a fumble, rumbling tumbling his way to the endzone. One of the bests the Mean Green D has seen.

Considering the nature of DD's offense, any one of those QB's we've had could've been the greatest "in hiding". God knows what Wilson or Meager could have waiting in the wings with the proper tutelage. Scott Hall separated himself by executing it [the offense] as well as anyone could: minimal mistakes, hitting the play actions, and great pocket awareness.

Long live Scott Hall.
