Former high school wrestler sentenced to probation

FLOWER MOUND, Texas A former suburban Dallas high school wrestler has been sentenced to a year's probation for allegedly hazing teammates at a 2005 pool party.

Cory Talbert pleaded no contest to assault with bodily injury. The 18-year-old former Flower Mound High School wrestler also was ordered to complete 40 hours of community service and assessed more than eleven-hundred dollars in fees and fines.

Under terms of a plea deal, Talbert was sentenced to probation with deferred adjudication. That means the charge will be dropped from his criminal record if he satisfies the probation.

Another former wrestler, 19-year-old Dustin Everett of Flower Mound, is set for trial next month in Denton on hazing and assault charges.

A Denton County grand jury last year indicted five other students ages 15 and 16 on juvenile charges including hazing, assault and one sexual assault charge.

Team coach Charles Zascavage also was indicted, but a judge dropped the hazing charge agains Zascavage last April because the law was too vague, officials said. Zascavage is no longer the school's wrestling coach.

Anyone who is down with the Mound (I had a cousin at the high school a couple of years ago) knows that this was some gross, disgusting sh**. Hazing is not even the right word to do it justice...
