Me thinks that TD is carefully laying the groundwork and planning a big dose for future Mean Green opponents. No money games for TD, just opportunity games. :).

I know this may be outside the box thinking, but remember that TCU was able to beat OU-- and now with the new leadership and attitude, we are not light years behind the program at TCU. I too agree that OU and ARK are now opportunity games.

Wouldn't it be nice to shock the world in September? With Thompson and Peterson gone, what if Stoops moves to the NFL? Maybe the idea of us hanging with OU isn't as far-fetched as most of you once thought.

It would be nice.....but seriously. We would be lucky to score a TD. When we play UT I was just happy that we scored.

Ideo - no.

Idea - yes.

I definintely think we are light years behind TCU AS OF RIGHT NOW. I mean we havent even taken the field yet with Dodge and we are thinking they are getting closer and closer to TCU. TCU is getting a perennial every year top 25 team and many times top 10-15. I wish what you said was true dallasgreen but lets not kid ourselves here and come back to planet earth. After one year at the helm then maybe I will say that we are on the right path of getting where TCU is but until then all we can do is hope and support.

And by the way I bet you OU's thrid and 4th teams (if they have them) can still whip up on us so lets not get carried away here.

Oops, thanks Q. I'll fix that.

So much negativity here, it's like we have a few DD fans left. The man is gone. The "experts" said there was no way Boise State could hang with OU and look what happened. I promise you this game will be A LOT closer than the game at UT. I was there, we played like crap, couldn't tackle worth a damn, couldn't stop a freaking fake punt, and just had the Darrell Dickey ideology that we don't have a chance to play with these boys, we're just here for the money. Do you realize that we only beat then by 4 more points than I-AA Sam Houston State?

I didn't say we would win, I said we could hang with them.

If you expect to lose, you will always fulfill your expectations!

Typical "Ball of hate" pro BCS remark. I'm sorry you didn't get into OU, have you considered Tulsa?

believe it or not i got accepted to OU and Tulsa....heck i got accepted to a lot of places(UT, Pitt, FSU, USC, Rice, Syracuse just to name a few) but chose UNT cuz its close to home and I had a lot of friends there. And afcourse I like the area and campus a lot as well. I'm just speaking the truth.....and those of you are saying that Boise beat OU...yes they did....fair and square but I have excellent news for you....BSU was/is actually a very good team. BSU can whip up on UNT just like OU's 3rd and 4th teamers.

Why try?

We should be the same team as when Dickey was here... wave the white flag out the bus window on the way up to Norman.

You wasted a lot of money applying to so many out of state and/or private schools when you already knew you liked the area, campus and friends. What college are you in?

I hate to break it to you but they are 3rd and 4th teamers for a reason and OU couldn't beat BSU with their first team. If you think it will be so bad, why not give your prediction of the score vs. OU's first teamers this coming Sept.

I bet we would lose 7-121 against the deaf, dumb and blind football team of OU. Are they lower than the 4th string?

If we will had the mighty Quinn, I would predict that we would score with the cheerleaders, but since he is gone we may not even score with them.

Haha, good call JD!

I just don't get the naysayers. The biggest part of success is to first believe that success is possible. Darrell Dickey never believed. Tood Dodge is a believer and so am I. We will no longer show up to lose. It is good to be green.

doing a double major in finance and radio/tv/film. will pursue my mba upon graduation this august at unt, utd or smu. why did i waste a lot of money? i kept my options open and felt at that time that unt was a good fit for me. today i look back and dont regret my decision that i became a mean green eagle. but what does that have to do with anything anyway? as far as the score i'm thinking it will be somewhere about the 42-7 to 49-14 range. thats just a guess i'm thinking from the top of my head. however i wouldnt be surprised if it turned out like 59-3 or some score like that. and its not like i'm waving the white flag before going up there but i saw this team most of the season last year and they were awful. sure alot of it had to do with DD but what makes you think TD will work his magic on his first ever game? and straight from hs that matter? i am just like all of you guys....i hope nt goes up to norman and keeps it close and hopefully would be able to whip up on them but i wanna be realistic and make sensible predictions. in two years things may be different and i will be able to say that we can go up to a bcs school and get a win if we play and execute well.

I believe we stand a chance against OU, which is more than I could ever say with DD. I don't think it's probable to beat them this year, but it's at least possible now. I do agree with Green Mean in that it will take a little while to catch up with TCU in football.

This is the type of answer I was looking for. I'm not sasying that we will beat OU, not saying that you guys should believe it so either. All I'm saying is that there is now a chance. If the entire OU or UT team got arrested the day before the game, they could have found guys in the crowd to beat a DD team. He never coached to win or even believed that there was the slightest chance. This is the biggest reason that I believe a TD coached team will keep a closer score than a DD coached team. My early prediction until spring ball hits will be 35-17 OU wins which is way better than the 56-7 whoopin we took in Austin. Now, if I'm incredibly impressed by spring ball, that prediction most likely will change in our favor, especially if Stoops were to leave Norman.

I hope you dont play poker. If so you might want to save your time and just give away your money. ;)

But I will say this. I am sorry that TD had to come into a schedule like our where his first ever game will be against the Sooners. He will have his hands full thats for sure. I bet he cant wait to get that game over with.

Same old mediocre philosophy: Limp through the OOC schedule and try beat the Sun Belt. Ask Todd Dodge if he thinks they have a chance. He will say yes. If he said no, he'd be in the wrong business. Did you hear DD talk to the reporter before the UT game? "They would have to have a real bad game and we would have to play above our level" What exactly is our "level"? And how can you guys say that TD's level is the same as the old coach that we were so fond of?

If we score 2 touchdowns against OU then I will shave UNT on my chest and TD in my butt hair

Way to aim high. I would have thought a field goal would have been the bar... but you have at least some optimism in a team you haven't even seen yet (Dodge's team).

I don't know.. you were name dropping a lot, so I took the bait and asked more.

I think for the majority of people here, UNT was not the second choice school, nor the school of last resort. Typically everyone here is proud of their affiliation with their school and hold their degree high.

Let me tell you a story that my wife tells...

It was one of her first few weeks at UT-Southwestern Medical School when her lecturing professor came into the room and looked into the eyes of the 250 new medical students. He walked to the front, made his introductions, told some anecdotes and convinced everyone how good of a doctor and teacher he is. He really struck everyone with his ability to be friendly, demand respect and convey his message.

He asked for everyone to show hands...

"How many of you went to UT?" -- 100 people raised their hands and 100 hissed.

"How many of you went to A&M? -- 100 people whooped and raised their hands.

"How many of you went to North Texas?" -- 3 people raised their hands.

"Typical," he said. "It takes 200 of other Texas schools to do what three from North Texas can do...."

This Doctor went to North Texas is one of the most respected Cardiologists in the world. Everyone loved him...

Anyway, I like that story. It is a good joke.. He represents the school well.

I would actually expect the opposite. A team going for the win will be more likely to take risks--that may or may not work and can leave your D in bad field position. DD did nothing but beat the spread in the body bag games in his first 6-7 years at UNT. He did it by never taking any big risks. He ran the ball to run the clock out and hoped to keep it close and not get anyone injured. My money would be on a DD coached team to keep it closer....but a TD team to occasionally pull out the win in these situations....if that makes any sense at all....
