it's 20 year old kids

It's just dissapointing. I assume it was truly in his best interest, but it just sucks.

I haven't seen him at the games in quite a while. I expected something like this will happen. Looks like sturns wil be the man in the backcourt next year. I want to see what sturns can do when he is the one supposed to take the shots.

After reading the article it looks like he is gone for good. For those waiting for next year, looks like any upturn is improbable. Losing three good players in Davis, Watson and Young and frankly there does not look like a lot of upside in the current freshman and sophomore class and no early signees.

Not a lot of upside? Have you seen Mangrum? That kid has a sweet shot and plays defense better than anyone on the team. He will easily replace Young and by the end of his career probably shoot 3s better that Watson. Sturns seems to be settling in and calming down and Q is getting it together down low. Remember that this team has played better without Davis than with him as hard as that is for me to say.

On topic though this is a tough loss for the team. I was looking foreward to seeing him play next year.

You must be seeing something that I'm not. He is shooting 28% from the floor.

I don't care much what his % is. He gets sparatic minutes with little time to settle in. I am talking about when he squares up and shoots you can tell he is a shooter. Once he starts getting regular minutes you will see exactly what I'm talking about.

Yes I have seen all the players many times. Last I checked Sturns and Williams were not freshmen or sophomores. The only four on the team are Howerton, Mangrum, Stewart and Edwards. There are exceptions but in most circumstances really good basketball players can be easily identified as soon as they get on the court in their first year. Right now NT is a .500 Belt club and yet done of the underclassmen are starters or go to players. Mangrum may have a sweet shoot but it has seldom been seen in a game and although he plays hard on defense he is far from the best defender on the team. All these underclassmen players could develop into stars but the odds are certainly against it.

wow what a great fan! are u sure u don't go to school at western kentucky??

1 guy doesn't make a team the Mean green will go on without flemmings and be just fine. u guys seem to forget how many people we will be having come back, and how a big a years worth of experience can do for some players. NT has alot of people coming back that can make plays, Williams, Wooden, Bell, Mangrum, the harolds, plus we will have Collin Dennis next year.. to say this team is screwed next season is rediculous and I don't know how people who claim to be fans of this team can just get on here and bash the team?

I know better than to respond to someone with your obvious debate skills. However, I did not state that the team was either "screwed" this year or next.

As for as your idea of bashing the team, I hope for your sake that you never get a real perfomance review. It may be all sugar plums and good fairies in your world, but most more discerning fans are a little concerned that JJ has just lost his most decorated recruit. No I did not go to school at WKU, I have been a season tickets holder for over 20 years and have seen over 500 NT basketball games; perhaps one day I will become a true fan.

wow u've been to alot of games.. I guess that automatically makes you the greatest fan ever.. not.. sorry I've always been a fan that sticks with my team through anything.. Sure not everything can be optimistic, but I think the some of the recent bad years has tanted your views on the team. Everything i've heard you, as well as a couple of other posters, has been negative.. Its one thing if you bring up the good stuff as well as the bad, but come on now everything negative?? is that a real fan?

Wow, you got him with that one, bud. I would consider being a season ticket holder for 20 years to be sticking with the team. But then again, I probably don't know as much as a person who hasn't seen a full season of UNT basketball.

There may be some people who haven't been in the SuperPit since they graduated and who will criticize what they know nothing about, but for you to call out a season ticket holder of 20 years and say he isn't a real fan is absolutely ridiculous(and yes, that is how you spell ridiculous). Get a clue.

Anyone who has seen over 500 NT basketball games has certainly got me beat by many miles and I go back to the NT vs DePaul game. If they were all home games, that would be pretty close to 35 years of attending every game. Pretty impressive attendance.
