alittle offtopic, but does anyone know where Florida International gets their name? Do they have a large influx of international students? or campuses around the world maybe?

FIU , the "I" comes from the promotion of the launching of new programs with an international focus and the recruitment of faculty from the Caribbean and Latin America by the then school president in the early 70s.

I looked it up , I was curious too.

I heard it really was built on an old airport, called Florida International... I heard that from an Alumn of that school.
