Minnesota to hire ex-UT assistant/ SMU picks up another local WR/Tom Bean open

Look for Tulsa coach Todd Graham to extend his Mesquite and family ties by hiring Tom Bean coach Brent Graham in the football office. Todd's nephew, who also grew up in Mesquite like Todd (North Mesquite grad), likely will be involved in recruiting or football operations. Tom Bean is a 2A school north of Dallas.

Minnesota will hire Tim Brewster, a longtime assistant of Mack Brown at Texas (1998-'01) and North Carolina. Brewster has been an assistant coach with the Denver Broncos the last two seasons.

SMU adds another

Mansfield Summit WR Bradley Haynes (6-2, 195) committed to SMU as the Mustangs continued to bolster their recruiting class. SMU is building a strong offensive class led by Springtown QB Logan Turner.

Dodge family emergency

Former Austin Westlake head football coach Ebbie Neptune remains in intensive care at an Austin hospital on Monday after suffering a stroke last Friday. Neptune's daughter, Elizabeth, is married to Todd Dodge.

Neptune was at Westlake as an assistant coach when it opened in 1969 and coached the Chaps from 1982-86. When Neptune moved off the sideline and into a full-time role as athletic director in 1987, he promoted offensive coordinator Ron Schroeder to head coach.

Neptune served as the school's athletic director from 1982-2003. The field at Westlake's Chaparral Stadium is named after Neptune. Westlake has made five state title game appearances.

Why was this moved?

We are hoping to get some recruits from Rice and Tulsa. Haynes was a recruit, whose Grandad was an NT great. And the last note is about a family emergency in our new HC's familiy.

Harry, the chief moderator, had a response and did not move the post. Just wondering why the post was moved.
