The Gainesville/cooke County Football Thread

Since we unintentionally hijacked that thread about the coaching staff in the MGR forum...and because, now that I live in Utah, I'm semi-interested in the "whatever happened to _____" discussions...I figured I'd start this thread.

So to continue this...Whatever happened to Kolby Kuykendall? I really thought he'd get a football offer from a small school at least. Granted, I know nothing of his academics.

He was undersized for sure, but I remember watching/coaching him when he was little...5th & 6th grade...and having to take him out of games at the requests of the refs and other parents because he was unintentionally injuring the other kids. Never made any illegal hits or anything dirty...he just hit that hard even at that age.

I have a few, been away for a while.

Ford from Collinsville (forgot his first name), I think he played baseball at NCTC, anything after that? Good athlete.

Kendrick from Gainesville? Great athlete.

And while we are on the subject, I know JR played for Rice and BJ for SFA, what about the rest of the players from the teams that went to Austin?

I couldnt tell u what happened to Kolby Kuykendall, I havn't seen him since he graduated.. he might be playing soccer somewhere, he was an extremely good defender..

lets see, as for those basketball teams that went to state, I know Chauncie Purvey and Kyle Searcy went to play at Grayson County Junior college, but left the team for one reason or the other (dont' know and I dont want to start rumors)

Gainesville currently has alot of former players playing college ball, here is a list of a few

Darcell McBath - DB - Texas Tech

Myron Newberry - DB - Hawaii (Graduated from Denton but grew up in Gainesville until High school

I'm sure there are a few more I missed, these are just the few that came to mind

More than likely not...if you really must know...ask Coach.

Whatever happened to KPFC?

It's still around. Another UNT student is running the station these days. Camp Sweeney and KPFC are still truckin' right along.

The music is alot better than when I was there...but the Small Time Sports Show is no more. No Coach, MrStrange62, or unt_92_fan around to talk sports. And God help us if they let the Dirty Bird do it.

I missed doing the 24 hour Christmas Spectacular this year...Coach...we should try to hijack the station and do it next year....
