Metroplex receiver flying under the radar

Talk about it in the Message Boards

Colleyville(Texas)Heritage receiver Breece Johnson is a player many opposing teams the Panthers face know about, but yet not many colleges have taken notice of the talented play maker who's been flying under the radar.

After a stellar performance at the Texas 7-on-7 tournament in which he was named the tourney's MVP, many felt he would continue terrorizing defenses during his senior year and he has done just that.

Johnson, 6-foot-2, 190 pounds with 4.4 speed currently leads the DFW area in receiving with 52 receptions for 836 yards and 14 scores, while helping his team to a 5-2 record.

Although his stats are impressive, Johnson doesn't hold an offer to date but is getting interest from North Texas, Colorado St., Iowa, and Utah.

"Those are the schools that have called and sent letters," he said. "I don't have any favorites."

One team Johnson says he wouldn't mind hearing from is TCU since is just a short drive away.

"I haven't heard anything from them, nothing at all," he said. "I would have an interest in them if they were to start showing me some interest."

Johnson, who is in his second year as a starter says he's been happy with his performance this year.

"The season has been going real good," he said. "I've done better than I expected I would."

Johnson is set to visit one of the schools showing him interest in the near future.

"I'm going up to UNT next week," he said. "I'm going up there to look around and get to meet all the coaches."

this doesnt say anything about him committing to us. in fact it looks like he is gonna wait around to see if TCU will give him a call... or did i miss something?

There was an article in the FWST this morning, saying he had committed to North Texas.

The article posted above is old. It was written on 10/25. Old Timer just posted it as an infomational tool on Johnson.

Breece Johnson, first team all-state receiver with Colleyville Heritage, committed Sunday to North Texas.

Johnson, 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, led 5A area receivers last season with 63 catches for 993 yards and 14 touchdowns.

“I liked them when coach [Todd] Dodge wasn’t there, but when he got hired, I wanted to go 100 percent,” he said."

this is good, but he's not listed on rivals area 100, not to mention state.

If Rivals doens't have him listed and he has these credentials, plus running a 4.4, then I don't put much stock in Rivals.

He is Dallas Morning News 1st team All-Area, Associated Press 1st Team All-State, and Fort Worth Star Telegram 2nd team All-Area.

I kept that Dallas Morning News All Area Team supplement that was in the paper last week. Anyway in it.....it has tidbits of info on all the first teamers.

It says that Breece enjoys making pottery, and that he might major in Art in college.

Anyway, if TD and staff keep getting commitments from kids like Breece and Justin Padron, this is going to be a great class (IMHO).

GMG and GTD!

A new chant rises from the Mean Green Nation: Kiln 'em, kiln 'em!

Sorry, my humor is fairly pottery-mouthed.

Thank you, thank you, I'm here all week, enjoy the buffet.

Absolutely...I've been very impressed with the first two commitments that Dodge has been able to get. Keep em' coming Todd.
