Anthony "Spud" Webb of Wilmer-Hutchins was a 12 year NBA player. The highlight of Spud's career was the 1986 All-Star Weekend Slam Dunk contest in his hometown Dallas, where he was crowned the the dunk champion. Spud attended Midland J.C. and later moved on to North Carolina State University. He was drafted in the fourth round by Detroit and later was moved to Atlanta, where he started his career. (Spud verbally committed to North Texas' coach Bill Blakeley, who was later fired)

New coach Tommy Newman informed Spud that his style would not be a fit in Newman's slower paced structured offense.
