Question About Players

Maybe some of you knowledgeable posters know.

1. Any of our players come from high schools that ran a spread offense similar to SLC's ?

2. Nathan Tune. What type of offense did Celina use ? Was it a spread ?

I only knew that because Craig James and Stratford beat Plano in the State final his senior year...then went on to SMUt...double grrrrrrrr.

The majority of the players on offense played in a spread offense in high school. Don't know about the defense.

Tough to say. They choose to run over opponets, because they can do so. Most games were over by halftime.

Tune played in a power running offense at Celina where the forward pass was mostly used in 3rd and long, obvious passing situations. Occasionally, a 1st or 2nd down pass was used but rarely. As previously noted, he only played beyond the 2nd Qtr in 2 of 16 games his senior year as they were typically over by halftime. He won the State game as the running back run game was shut down. If you saw it, he could have won the THSCA All-Star game if allowed to play more series. He made Harrell (4A district MVP) look very average. Tune had to learn the spread offense and hand signals for 30 plays in four days prior to that game.
