Dodge Says Unt Will Use A 4-3 Defense

that said, anyone else concerned he is bringing in only HS coaches? Shouldn't he bring in some experienced college assistants especially on defense?

some of you dont know as much as you think. our defense last year was better than the last defense that went to the new orleans bowl. check the stats. the only thing different was the offensive out put. the d line is going to be fine. it will actually be better. we have a lot of experience on the line and now more will be free to rush the passer. joseph miller is just as good as sky pruit was if not better. burruss picked up a lot of experience as a first year starter. montey will be on the field more since he wont be competing for time at de as a 3 technique. he started at this position and is a lot more adept to it. and your two time all conference honorie jeremiah chapman will be free to make more plays at the weak side end instead of being in the 3-4 as a glorified blocker for the line backers. wise up.

Please. Sacks alone show our defensive line wasn't what it was cracked up to be. The key thing to making a 3-4 defense work is you have to have 1 (or more) LBs blitz, which we never seemed to do, otherwise you are essentially running a prevent defense.

2003 - 25 sacks for 172 yds

2004 - 26 sacks for 144 yds

2005 - 17 sacks for 105 yds

2006 - 16 sacks for 96 yds

I'm sure someone can go to the NCAA website and compare defensive rankings between the various years.

Total Defense:

'06= 65th

'05= 101st

'04= 87th

'03= 21st

'02= 9th

'01= 42nd

Coach Bliel had made a noticable difference in my oppinion. But I expect our new defense to be much better. Our secondary guys are about to go through a baptism of fire and brimstone. And given how tough I expect them to be this next season will dictate how well our front 7 play.
