The Alabama BOT refused to hire Fisher because the salary agreement was to high even though UAB fans say they had private donors who would pay.  I am glad we have our own Board of Regents and are not tied to a bigger system.

Now the La Tech board says he is their leading candidate.

Jimbo WILL NOT go to LaTech. That's got to be one of the worst head football coaching job situations in all of DI.

Here is one of the discussions. Keep in mind the UAB post said Fisher would not take $400,000 at UAB and had reached a $600,000 deal until nixed by their BOT. The La Tech fans believe they can pay what he wants. I do agree that it is not a good 1A job. They are still trying to fund a Jumbotron and have the obvious problems with travelling long distances and playing in the Mountain and Pacific time zones.

$600,000? That will be the only way they get $omeone decent there.

That again shows what a great deal UNT got with Dodge.

Location, location, location. Even if they offered Dodge 600k to go out there he wouldn't go. LaTech is not in a good situation budget wise or conference wise. I am suprised there is an alumni out there willing to foot the bill. Either way its just a stop gap for them and it won't fix the heart of the problem.

There is some $$$ in Ruston, their problem is all of the La. Tech $$$ is just in Ruston. It's hard for them to get traction in a state SO dominated by LSU. La. is obsessed with LSU. Their program has potential, in the last 5 or so years they've had some success and recruited well. They probably have a lot of the same problems we do. Of course they get the good recruits before La. Monroe or La. Laugh. They have that Evangel(SHPRT) and their big one now is West Monroe.
