the mission of the mgc is to promote and fund athletics, the mission of the exes is to promote the entire university and unite exes with each other through gatherings and meetings, etc. I suggest that you do both...a strong alumni assn. is good for any university.

I go BOTH ways...uhh, let me rephrase that. I belong to BOTH. Two fine groups, each with a mission to benefit UNT.

Lifetime Member of the Exes here. It seems as though I might be recruited to run the LA Group, because the former Prez moved back to Texas recently.

I'm not in the Exes because we don't really have an active chapter in DC.  Plus, I think there are only about five UNT'ers here. sad.gif

There is a networking group in D.C. though not a full fledged chapter at this time. Go to ntexes.org or contact bsanders@unt.edu for info. You can be in NTE for $40. per year while as I recall $100. is minimum for annual MGC. Both give scholarships it's just that the EXES ' are avaiable to members and their children and are university wide The Exes and the Foundation recently brought 12 scholarships to be fully endowed and they are just for students (not chairs or research) and represent nearly every dept. university wide.

Thanks for the info, DG. I've looked into joining the Exes before. I think they have a message board on their site. Is that a good place to find old friends?
