Nice hire.

As someone who goes to one North Texas game a year, I may actually get to see some offense!

Some risks obviously with a high school direct to D1 move, but there is tremendous upside. Of course, he goes from the most sheltered / catered environment (NFL heritage talent, facilities, funding, asisstant coached, winning tradition, fan support) to a place that needs a little bit of work, but I really think he has the energy to make it happen.

Nice hire RV!

Thank you for the congrats. I do see where you are talking about the risk, but I am not worried about TD. He has recruited and coached here at NT before and during his 2 years here did a damn good job as OC.

This got lost in another thread but silvereagle posted his stats while he was at NT:

Dodge had two years as an assistant at North Texas (92 & 93) working with the offense and QB's. Lets look at the North Texas record re: Mitch Maher.

92- 2090 yrds passing

93- 2595 yrds passing

94- 3103 yrds passing

Lets look at most yards of total offense per game (team average)

1.421 (1969)

2.420 (1951)

3.392 (1968)

4.377 (1988)

5.366 (1993)

Single season total offense leaders, top 5.

1. 3280, Mitch Maher, 1994

2. 2711, Mitch Maher, 1993

3. 2637, Steve Ramsey, 1969

4. 2848, Scott Davis, 1988

5. 2637, Steve Ramsey, 1969
