DENTON – The board of regents will consider a proposal today that would delegate authority to athletic director Rick Villarreal and university president Gretchen Bataille to sign a contract with a football coach.

UNT policy states that the board must approve contracts for employees that include a base salary that exceeds $500,000 for the length of the contract. A deal with a football coach would surpass that total.

UNT is looking for a replacement for Darrell Dickey, who completed his nine-year tenure at the end of the season.

Obviously, the "official" hire date is 12/14... but what will a week buy us... valuable extra recruiting time!
