Worst Rercuiting Class to come ?

A thought , If we DO NOT hire a head coach & his staff with any or good TEXAS ties , will this be the worst class to some in in years ? Even if the new coach is a good recruiter he will be well behind other coaches in the area and even behind the rival coaches in the SBC. I read where our assistants are currently on "hold" by the AD....how much longer can we afford to wait ? While I cant wait for a new coach ( crossing fingers for DODGE ) it would greatly concern me if someone with little or NO real strong ties to other TX coaches and/or players is brought in. With that in mind , Im hoping the wait for the naming of a coach is because someone is still in the State Playoffs !!!

I don't follow recruiting but could it be much different from what we have had over the past couple of years? To the casual recruiting fan it seems like pretty much anyone could come in and deliver the same type of class.

Either way we are going to have to brace ourselves for 2-3 years of rebuilding. A new coach can make some aesthetic fixes but the culture change that is coming will be a longer term process.

Very True , but I think we have actually had some great recruits over the past few years , but the coaching has NOT maximazed their talents.

Very true. I didn't want to slam the good kids on our team right now and Dickey and Co did always find some gems. People respond differently to different leaders and there might be gems we don't even know about yet!

Seems to me that those left on the "old" staff would want to look good and possibly have a chance to stay on when the new guy gets here by keeping in touch with recruits. Couldn't hurt. And what are they doing now otherwise ?

Havent heard that one yet. Sounds like that means he has already got a Head Coach w/ his Full staff or an Assisstant who already has his assistants lined up perhaps ??

I doubt it. Assistants will not be hired until the new head coach is hired, and the new head coach will have major input on who the assistants will be. It's not unusual for a new head coach to bring in a completely new staff. It is likely that several of the current assistants will not keep their jobs. They're in a care-taking mode right now.

They shut down recruiting because whoever the next coach is, he will have his own ideas on who to recruit and how to recruit. He might not want a kid that one of the current assistants recruits, so why saddle an incoming coach with promises he will not want to keep?
