Imagine a new coach coming in and thrashing up points against all the Sun Belt teams, which isnt hard for any good coach to do.. Then Wright Waters has to answered the calls of other Sun Belt AD' s who want NT out becuase they need to be in a more competitive conference...

Then to add to that, NT starts upsetting top 25 teams and beating OOC regional opponents and it seems neccessary that NT moves to a more competitive conference, especially with a new stadium on the way and more television exposure for the MEAN GREEN...

CUSA, cant accomodate NT cause they picked measly UTEP...

But the Mountain West has an opening, but wait at the same time the Big 12 has had enough of the embarrassment called Baylor, and wants North Texas to add its shade of green in place of Baylor's and find a more potent rival to Texas Tech.

Okay, Okay, I guess I will stop drinking so much green kool-aid.... rolleyes.gif

Good positive visions to look forward to in the future, right???? wink.gif

Just stop drinking period...PLEASE.

One question though.... would this Moses of a coach that is going to lead North Texas to the promised land be one of the bottom of the barrel, RV cronies that you are so against?

Both CUSA and the WAC evaluated NT. The WAC was rumored to have offered and we turned it down unless we could bring 3 other SBC schools; CUSA offered UTEP instead of us or La Tech. More CUSA openings are expected if they lose a school(s) to the Big East. We are still working on some deficiencies like lack of baseball, football facility, attendance.

Right, like all the WAC teams are trying to get rid of Boise. wink.gif

Baylor will never be kicked out of the BIG 12. Regardless of how their football team does, across the board all of their athletics are solid. Womens basketball won a national championship recently, baseball is always solid, track is a perennial winner. Tennis rocks. Same goes for swimming. The mens basketball program had some problems the last couple of years but regardless across the board Baylor fields competitive teams. Add to that their athletes grades help the entire conference. Baylor is far from an embarrassment.

Am I mistaken or didn't you post a while back that you had graduated and were embarking on a sports journalism career? If that's the case I'd suggest you steer clear of yellow journalism.

His croonies would not be welcomed here, as it would be proof that the selection process wasnt completely conducted

That scenario would be with a proven successful college coach here at the helm

As of now, it is really up in the air who might be our new coach.

This ain't playstation, there's no conference slots available.

The Big East isn't breaking up.

The Pac 10 & Big Ten aren't going to 12.

Boise and their crappy academic standards aren't going to the MWC.

The SBC is a good conferenc and its a good conference for UNT.

Just some probations, felonies, and a dead body. Seeing how they survived that, they'll be where they wanna be until they themselves decide to leave. Plus, they are extremely well-connected politically, which is how they were included in the Big 12 in the first place.

Why would we ever want to go to a western time-zone conference? Travel would be expensive, there is just one central time zone team (TCU).

If we make a conference move in the coming years, it should be a concerted effort to get into C-USA. Dreams of a Big 12 invitation are decades away, and even then it will only be if Baylor burns to the ground.

Where do you come up with this stuff?! blink.gif Again with the croonies. Personally, I feel that a "croony" would fit right in at a school with a notable music program...

From what I've read in recent years, there may be some conservative Southern Baptist who may be ready to burn Baylor to the ground. ohmy.gif So there's always a chance for UNT in the Big 12, eh, like a snowballs chance in hell? rolleyes.gif

CUSA probably has the same attitude the old SWC had: "We already have enough Texas schools in this league."

I think the MWC would be intriguing (especially over the WAC for you who still think that a good direction) and especially since TCU needs a travel partner.

Its just the same ol' thing in Denton, though, inasmuch as we of UNT still have a long list of things that need to be done for us to even think of upgrading to such a league as the MWC if that even became an option at all.

Just looking at UNT media guides (which really serve as pretty fair reference guides of our success or lack thereof); anyway, I still think we only have a handful in our athletic department who are of a NCAA D1-A talent level just looking at those media guides, but the rest still seem to think we're still operating back in the early 1990's in our 1-AA/SLC days with their attitudes (and seemed low expectation for this program).

And FWIW, its apparent that some of that group on campus have been successful with some of our elect in making them think we really have a "got it going on" program in Denton. So with many of that group of UNT athletic employees its still just probably more of the: "As long as they pay me my pay check I'll just keep on selling refrigerators to a bunch of those green-clad/green-tinted thinking Eskimos." wink.gif Just my .02 from many, many years of observation and..............I know several of you who have personally (or via telephone or email) told me you feel the very same (and some of you with even stronger feelings about this than myself), but I'll go ahead and be the one who'll post it so you won't get any sludge or personal criticism thrown your way. rolleyes.gifsmile.gif

Baylor will never be kicked out of the Big 12, so quit dreaming. They have great academics, and they are strong in almost every other sport. Every conference has its academic whipping boy.

C-USA is our best, and only option if we ever switch conferences.

Plus I think having Baylor in the B12 was a big point for Texas, Tech, and aTm. Members of the Texas CONGRESS did not want the B12 to form w/out Baylor.
