Rest assured, that after the Butler name got out, RV will keep all of the candidates close to the vest. He doesn't want another episode of that happening before he makes his hire.

You can say all you want, but it concerns me that folks like Dodge, Carthel and Matthews report no one has contacted them about the job and RV claims the list "has been trimmed down to a fairly small size." Now all three of the above may be on that list, and he may be waiting for the playoffs to finish with Dodge, but Carthel and Matthews are done for the year, so the fact that they have not been contacted is a huge concern.

You need to read Dodge's comments more closely. There's a lot of 'plausible deniability' that goes on in this game. Dodge said that he has had no 'official contact'. That's a big difference. There may have already been feelers sent out to gauge interest from Dodge. If there is no interest from him, face is saved by all parties. There are all kinds of ways to contact people without 'officially contacting' them. Happens in the business world all the time. No difference here.

It also helps Dodge not lose face in SLC fans. You never want to alienate your current employer (in case you don't get the job you applied for).
