jperg2 asked earlier for a new logo to use on Yahoo's college football pages. They're currently using this one:

For comparison, here's some other logos they're using. They prefer the dominant color as the background, with scan lines over the image, and dark glow on the edges:

Here's one I put this together this evening for North Texas using the new Eagle logo. It's only a first draft, so see what you think:

I'd love to hear any suggestions.

Might try more definition of the lines around the outside of the graphic.  Possibly some black?

Rick

Here's the current one:

And one with a one-pixel black glow around the edge of the Eagle:

You know, it's not really legal to be screwing with anyones logo. Schools, corporations etc have graphic standards for their trademarks. You are violating federal copyright laws by altering the NT logo. If you want Yahoo to use the correct one contact someone in the marketing department or athletics department at NT and ask that they send one to Yahoo.

I appreciate your chutzpuh but imagine if everyone "tweaked" the logo and various outlets accepted the tweaked logo.

I really don't think "chutzpuh" is accurate. I understand that to be insolence or impertinence, and that is certainly not what I intended, nor is it what I did.

But fine, if someone is offended, my apologies. I've taken the logo off my website.

That should take it off the board.

* Getting someone from the Marketing or Athletics departments to do anything is a CHALLENGE it seems

*If ANYONE from NT had a problem and actually did anything legal against something like this then Id have to find a new school to go root for. Damn that means id have to go to grad school or something.

* New logo looks tight!!

First let me clarify: I was using "chutzpah" as "boldness" not insolence.

It has nothing to do with being offended.

He's not using it commercially; he's suggesting something to Yahoo. Let them decide whether using that logo is acceptable or not on their news site.

You need to distinguish between commercial use and non-commercial use among fans, which is akin to the stuff many of us do in our avatar image. Most schools wouldn't step in and shut down fan efforts to show support for their team. My desktop background is a "four-time Sun Belt champs" image some fan created that could also be described uncharitably as "screwing with" school logos.

If anyone has a copy of the logos worked up for Yahoo, please repost them. They looked good.

Adman is wrong. There's nothing inappropriate about what you're doing non-commercially to encourage Yahoo to update their logo. I hope you'll reinstate the images.

I will repost the images this evening. They're at home, and I'm not, so it'll have to wait until after work.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. It is very much appreciated.

By the way, jperg2, your site is awesome. What a tribute to UNT and Sun Belt football. The conference should have such a football page. Everyone should pay a visit to your site. That is a football fan!

Smitty those logos looked awesome. I would like to incorporate some of them into this site in fact if you would allow it.

JPerg - awesome page buddy. I love what you did with that schedule. Are you updating it for next year? If so I will permanently link to it!

Hell yes... that site has been around for the last 3 years, I only now posted it here because I wanted some of the kinks worked out of it. It seems there's always something that I find interesting and try to incorporate into that page as well. As you can tell it's a "monster" to load now.

Thanks for the comments.

I have sent them atleast 4-5 e-mails about having the wrong logo since we switched to the Son of Worm logo and each time I get the same response.

Thank you for your input. We will take it into consideration and make the necessary changes.

Or something to that effect with them never changing it.

Looking at your schedule, it makes me sooooo happy that ASU sucked it up at the end of the season. Skunked to straight weeks after their game with us. They were acting like world beaters... when they are just beaters.

I've put the logo and two avatars back online, in a new topic. Please feel free to use them anywhere you like. If GoMeanGreen.com needs any other graphics in future, please let me know.

Who cares man? I'm tired of my school not getting recognition. I've been to a few sites with the old logos. They need to keep them updated. We are a D1 school just like all the other Big 12 schools and I promise you if they were to change their logo, it would be changed ASAP.

Props for taking charge and emailing them the new logo. GO GREEN*GO WHITE!
