I think its pointless to debate the qualities of the future coach since the discussion will have no effect on the actual decission. But I do think its interesting to see what other jobs are open aswell.

ESPN has a list going of Head Coaching Changes

Arizona State Dirk Koetter --

Florida International Don Strock --

Iowa State Dan McCarney --

Miami Larry Coker --

Michigan State John L. Smith --

North Carolina John Bunting --

North Carolina State Chuck Amato --

North Texas Darrell Dickey --

Isn't Koetter the guy that turned Boise into a top 25 team? I guess that he has had problems adjusting to the game at ASU but he sure did a great job at Boise State. Maybe we should be looking at him?

Yes, from 96-97 Boise went 6-17 ( Houston Nutt coached them in 97). Koetter took over for the next 3 years ( 98-00) and went 26-10 with 2 BWC championships including a Bowl win over UTEP in 00. Do we have a new name in the hat ? laugh.gif

Saw somewhere will go double check...

supposedly what triggered the Bennett situation was Coker being fired and Orsini wanting to bring him in. Ala Matt Doherty etc

Coker has a sterling rep, class guy and Texas ties

Sounds like what we are looking for

I wouldn't mind Coker, other than the fact that he let his team get out of control discipline wise, and we just got rid of a coach that had discipline problems at least in games. I think Coker will end up at a big school though.
