Being a sore looser would say that we should have won that game or that UTA is subpar compared to us. Can't i just point out that we lost to an after the buzzer shot.

We all know that though when it is repeatedly pointed out it makes us sound like sore losers...especially in a game that doesn't mean any thing in the grand scheme of us getting an NCAA bid

Nothing we do can get us a NCAA bid. I just can't forget it because it was UTA and the call was so bad. Im am going to put the * every time i put the record.

Now that is over can we get back on the original topic? Nebraska just killed Ark-Pinbluff.

They suck but Nebraska took care of business. I listened to some of the game and turned it off early. Nebraska can shoot and play defense. I can't get nothing yet from them because of their competion level. Creigton was highly overreated. But Nebraske might be really good. if we can pull off a win it would look nice on our resume.

Actually, the SBC champion gets an automatic NCAA tournament birth. All we have to do is win, and we'll get one. Last season, South Alabama got the NCAA bid, while Western Kentucky got an NIT invitation. I think we have a shot this year. Our upcoming games against Nebraska and Western Kentucky on the road are big tests.

Well of course i know that. I ment an at large bid. It would take us to win 28 games and loose in the final of our tournament to maybe get an at large bid. WKU had a great season last year and hardly anyone was talking about them getting in. Our best chance would be get the number one seed and hope S. Alabama beats up on WKU in the Semifinal.

sorry.. I misunderstood what you were saying. I had a coversation earlier that day with some students who commented the SBC basketball wasn't worth watching because no matter how good we did, we'd never get into the NCAA tournament. I explained to them that was just plain wrong, and that last year we sent one team to the NCAA tourny and one to the NIT tourny. They were surprised and skeptical. Hopefully, I talked them into coming to some games. Again, sorry, didn't mean to lecture you, and are enjoying your posts!

I apologize for the "sore loser" comment. I know I was just as frustrated about the non-call as y'all were. I just didn't want to focus on it. I really enjoy the basketball forum and how we focus on critiquing basketball, rather than each other. I hope we can return to that.

Anyone care to share their expertise on the Sagarin. Somehow, this week we actually have moved down many slots, while Charlotte moved ahead of us (without winning any more games and loss to us) and South Alabama is ahead of us and Troy just behind us. Doesn't make alot of sense... oh, and Nebraska moved to #50 with a win over that sorry Pine Bluff or whoever that was. Seems peculiar to me. I do like that we have a chance to knock off Nebraska, now a top 50 team.

I think Sagarin is a decent indicator of relative strength but, by no means is it the be all end all of rankings. Sagarin, RPI, the AP, the Coaches poll, your personal opinion - throw'm all up in the air and whatever they average is probably about right. wink.gif

Troy will be falling after losing to Alabama State last night.

As for UN-Charlotte not sure as Syracuse manhandled them also.

Looks like the UTA loss will hold the team down some.

UTA lost to UT-Pan American last night, if I'm not mistaken.

BTW....the Nebraska game is scheduled to be shown on Fox Sports Midwest....which is channel 647 for folks who have DirecTV.

Sweet. I am changing from Dish to Direct TV tomorrow afternoon so I should be able to watch the entire game. My move to Direct TV is already paying dividends!

This may be a dumb question but why aren't UNT basketball and football games always on tv, at least locally? I realize we don't have as big of a fan base as other D1 schools but wouldn't televising the games help in the fan base department?

It's not my fault the English language is lost on some folks. Sorry to get you all in an uproar. I deleted it.

If this thread was any more chock full of expert analysis it would explode under the weight of its own accuracy and relevance.
