DENTON (11/25/06) – Paced by a career night from Jo Hall, the North Texas women’s basketball team cruised to a 92-54 win over Loyola-Chicago on Saturday.

Hall, one of five North Texas players in double figures, eclipsed her previous career high in the game’s opening minutes and finished the night with 17 points. The sophomore paced the Mean Green (1-3) who came out of the gate on fire, taking a 48-34 half-time lead over Loyola (0-4).

In only 11 minutes of action, Brittney James scorched the Ramblers for 15 points. Hall and James led the Mean Green bench that outscored Loyola’s by a total of 46-22.

Amber Jackson notched her first career double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Jackson’s double-double is the team’s first since Erika Bobo recorded 14 points and 17 rebounds last season against Denver on February 18.

Sanetra Jackson and Tricia Lee also added 18 and 11 points respectively on the night.

North Texas nearly doubled its season three-point total against Loyola. NT had five three’s on the year entering tonight, and nailed four from beyond the arc against Ramblers.

North Texas returns to action against Prairie View A&M at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at The Super Pit.

Nice win for the women to get them off the shnide.

Play PVAM next, then back on the raod for the girls.

Dec. 9 is at SMU. I have to work that night but maybe several locals can help put some voices in the seats for the women in Dallas.

Nice win for the lady's. Loyola Chicago was a bad team with loses to Illinois 59-87, 60-78 Northwestern and 66-77 Illinois State, but Slinker's team really ran them off the court.

The team has a lot of depth again this year, but do they have the difference makers that can turn them into a good team? If they can get a reliable point guard play this team should be at least competitive in the Division. Freshman Brittany James looks like the real deal with Bobo like speed and potentially a much better offensive player.
