If not it should be and so should the stadium. Thanks for supporting the best north Texas has to offer -- THE Univeristy of North Texas.

It is the largest gift ever donated to North Texas athletics and will be used primarily in the development of a plan for a proposed football stadium adjacent to the current Mean Green Athletics Center.

Does this mean the money will go towards blueprints and feasibility studies or actually toward paying for the stadium?

According to information given by Rick Villareal on a tour of the athletic center, the feasibility study and blueprints are in his office. All of this should be going toward the stadium. Rick made the comment that the stadium would be completed 18 months after the first dirt was turned.

THIS IS BIG! (insert Handel's Hallelujah Chorus)!

And the Denia Duck Pond (across interstate from Fouts Field) will be near the northwest part of the north endzone part of the new stadium and remain intact, right?

And just look at all that prime inter-state real estate between the 2 Texas interstates on that rolling Texas prairie, too! blink.gif

A picture is truly worth a thousand words now isn't it? Maybe even more than a thousand words in our case! HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN! CONGRATS TO ALL THOSE RESPONSIBLE, TOO. cool.gif

PS: Anyone else smell a new stadium dirt turning ceremony much sooner than much later now? smile.gif

With that timeline, dirt flying anytime in 2007 will get it done in time for 2009 season. Is Air Force still scheduled for their return game then ?

I believe this is just the start of the stadium campaign. I don't think we will turn dirt until we have most (all) the funds raised for the stadium.

18 months is from when we start construction, whenever that will be.

YES!!!!!

This is the best part of the donation, to be used as seed-money for a New Stadium, a kickoff so to speak for it's capital campaign. Originally RV mentioned that the gift might be split among various athletic needs but I'm glad it is going to the New Stadium.... the keystone to NT Athletic's future. biggrin.gif
