Folks it looks like the NT mens team will have a really good year if they keep up the current playing...especially when our leading player returns.

DENTON - Senior forward Rich Young hit two free throws with 22 seconds remaining to help North Texas defeat Tulsa 65-63 on Tuesday night.

Tulsa had a chance to tie the game when Brett McDade, a Denton Ryan graduate, was fouled on a 3-point try with three seconds left. He made his first shot but missed the next two. Tulsa (2-1) got the rebound, but Roderick Earls missed what would have been the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Junior Michael Sturns came off the bench to score 21 points for UNT (4-1), which trailed 34-31 at the half and hit only 39 percent of its shots. Guard Calvin Watson had 12 points, including three 3-pointers.

The Mean Green fought back twice from a nine-point deficit. A 14-8 run in the final five minutes before halftime closed a 26-17 deficit to three points. UNT took a one-point lead early in the second half, but Tulsa fired back with a 13-3 run to regain its nine-point advantage at 49-40.

North Texas chipped away at the lead until finally taking over for good, 63-62, on a 3-pointer by Watson with 1:28 left to play.

I don't know if KD should return. It would be great to have him this year but if the team develops chemistry this year without him and depending on how rusty he is it may be worth taking the redshirt letting him rehab and come back next year.
