Also what happens when the west and east coast all moves to Texas because of taxes and jobs etc like they predict? Shitholes like West Virginia get to stay in bigger conferences just because the Texas schools don’t want any competition? Look at how long it took UofH to gain acceptance into the Big 12!
I have been posting about this on here for wars now, you are who your opponents are! Now they get to walk a mile in our shoes. Ironically Cal who was in the original PAC 12 has been the best nonconference opponent we could muster recently.
My guess is this same decreasing fan phenomenon happening at WSU is also happening at Baylor, TCU, and the other Big 12 schools who feasted off of UT and A&M and OU etc all those many years.
I've said it here before, if politicians were smart they'd put the clamps on college athletics and equal out media dollars across the board, and set salary caps in an effort to level out the playing field. Looking at Texas alone for example, we could be boosting economy in cities like El Paso, San Marcos, Denton, and Huntsville in addition to the already sports-dependent markets like Austin, College Station, and Lubbock. Instead we'd rather keep the same few markets at the top and let the others struggle. Why you wouldn't want more money circulating is beyond me but I guess anything to keep the top dogs happy.
