Uh, who is Randy Butler? blink.gif I'm sure whoever he is he would be a nice enough gentleman, but has he really been in demand from higher profile NCAA D1-A outposts who were really serious about hiring him away from USM? So sorry here, but I am beginning to smell a bit of "cronyism" again and it fixin' to happen in Mean Green Country all over again. sad.gif You'd think we would learn some lessons every once in a decade or two in Denton, but I just don't think its in the cards for that to ever happen. What a waste of a football program that all we can really ever say about it to our fellow DFW Metroplex'ers and Texans is that it really does have all the potential in the world (but "potential" is where it most always stops and we all know what they say about potential, right)? sad.gif

NOTE: FWIW, it was NT's upper echelon administration (as in Prez' Jitter Nolan) and not the (then) athletic dept. who took the bull by the horns, persued Hayden Fry and secured his services. Now that is a scenario that has yet to repeat itself since. Hmmm? Just what is it that scares UNT for even attempting to try to repeat such a similar successful hire?

So in that regard..............I suppose we just need UTEP's upper echelon administration to teach us a lesson we seemed to have forgotten in Denton as they themselves only recently said "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH" then they took the bull by the horns and because they had the balls to do something different for a change, it only got them in the Top 25 with Eric Price's dad's as their HFC which produced for the Miners a that Top 25 ranking in only his 2'nd year in El Paso.

Folks, do we deserve a Top 25 football program or not? OR......... do we just need to keep doing all the things necessary for us to keep our low expectation crowd happy with merely just more Bottom 25 college football in Denton (and dressing that up as something special at the same time)? unsure.gif

Not nearly enough will hang around all this again much longer as far as the kind of annual standings of what we've all become pretty well accustomed to getting in Denton--that's a guarantee. And I believe its always about who you hire who has much to do with where a progressive football program stands in the final 119 NCAA D1-A standings each year?

If we don't go outside the box, just stir up the "what we normally have to choose from for a HFC at UNT" pot of potential hires, close your eyes and just pick anyone at random.

I guess I just should have been going to church more often most of the past 25 years, eh? sad.gif

Randy Butler? Ridiculous.

Maybe RV has a former pizza delivery driver he used to work with at Domino's that he wants to hire as the head football coach at UNT. That sounds about as attractive to me as hiring a spare Southern Mississippi tight ends coach. Boo!!!

      Is Chandler Morris healthy?

      Have we thought that maybe he is just not that good against average to above average teams? Threw a pick to end our chances against Memphis. Threw two picks that cost us the Army game. And threw two picks that cost us the UTSA game. There is a reason it didn't work out for him at okla and TCU. Hopefully we can beat the two inferior teams we have left on our schedule.

      Back to the Frisco Bowl Again🤮🤮

      I know the second half of this year has been really disappointing but dang- we shouldn’t hope for losing to avoid a bowel game. Before the start of the season everyone would’ve been happy with more W’s. It shows improvement. It shows we’re building something and gives the coaches evidence for when they talk to recruits. Win out and win whatever bowl game, 8-5 might convince some transfers/recruits that could really help turn this team into something next year.

      Dude isn’t going to have an arm after this season. I swear I’ve seen him come off the field like 3 separate times holding it like it’s broken.

      Pretty much what the two comments above are saying: It’s a strong possibility that he’s got a case of hero ball. “I need to play amazing for us to win” mentality. Mistakes avalanche and instead of relaxing, you tighten up and are harder on yourself. Obviously that’s total conjecture based on my personal experience in sports. We all know he’s great and wants to win. Could totally be a nagging injury too, who knows. Hope he sticks around for another season with an experienced OL and a more consistent D. That’d be a treat to watch.
