I am not familiar with "Brains Song." That sounds more like an academic movie.

A friend of mine met the real radio and the also the coach who took him in. He e-mailed the coach and said he would be in town and asked if they could meet. They had lunch together and Radio gave him a tour of the school.

Nonetheless I vote for "Rudy."

I highly recommend you watch Brian's song. Based on true story and has been known to make grown men cry.

This a great site for movies... this one is "Brians Song" about a Chicago Bear football player.... good movie...

Don't care for Notre Dame but I liked "Rudy" despite that.

Rudy is a close second but had to vote for Friday Night Lights.

The FNL book was better but the movie was faithful to it, and anybody that played 4A/5A back in the 80's in a football crazed town KNOWS that book and movie were spot on! They got it right.

I like "America's funniest shots in the nuts" and Tweeder stealing the cop car.

---Varsity Blues (my opinion ) was the worse football movie ever.... and I even knew a cast-member or two... totally unrealistic and made Texas HS football look terrible..

Longest Yard (1974) was my favorite hands down. I will always have a special spot in my heart for "Necessary Roughness".

I don't know, it was released the day I played my last HS game. Quite of few of my teammates went with me and that night we took on the SLC Dragons who were 2 years prior to TD. The year was 1998. It seemed pretty realistic to me except for stealing cars. I guess we'll just have to disagree on this one.

I guess it was realistic to me because it is the only of the football movies where the coach will throw you around if you play like crap.

Remember the Titans was a very good movie.

The Replacements comes in a close second. And how could you not like the Replacement Cheerleaders ... Yummy!

Varsity Blues realistic? I have heard it all now.

Friday Night Lights was good, L.V. is a great character.

Out of these, I would go with Remember the Titans. I love that movie (except for the pre-game dance thing). We actually watched that before our game last Friday and won 41-6. We could have watched Gigli and done the same thing, but still.

There is a football movie that is as realistic as you can get, it is called Power Passion & Glory. It is a documentary, real kids, real coaches, real games (some of you probably know some of the players and coaches in it) about the 2002 Celina Bobcats. They had just bumped up to be the smallest 3A school in the state, had a four year win streak going and G.A. Moore had just left for Pilot Point. It is a great movie. When Ross Roby catches a Gainesville player from behind to save a touchdown, you will get goosebumps. When the season is over, it is tough to hold back a tear, because it's not cheesy or over the top, it's real.

Remember the Titans is one of the cheesiest PC Disney movies ever...get some balls and make a real football movie about racial tension. They go jogging at night and end up at Gettysburg's cemetary, are you serious?!

By far my favorite football movie is the Official DVD of North Texas Mean Green 2003 Football wink.gif
