Where was your support for UNT in the years preceding Darrell Dickey's hiring?

Have you ever given a dime toward any academic program in the past?

Prior to your athletic contribution did you ever give a dime to athletics?

You cite a comparison to Matt Simon. Look at the schedule that Matt Simon had to play in his second year at UNT, or for that matter any year he was here. Simon played a tougher schedule than Dickey!!! We lost a lot of games under Simon but I don't believe he ever whined about who he had to play or entered the field without a belief that we could win. You would know this if you were at the games!!! You cite games against "UT/OU/A&M" as an excuse for the record. We played A&M once, played UT 3 times and OU 3 times in nine years. The scheduling is consistant with other SBC, MAC, or WAC schools. Other than the years you attended, and the last few years, do you have any knowledge about the history of this athletic program?

Is the only reason you support your alma mater because of Darrell Dickey? If so, why?

While I’m happy someone cares enough to buy an ad to express themselves, Mr. McIngvale was turned down when he tried to by the naming rights to what is now Minute Maid Park.

The old Houston Bowd chose to fold rather than take more money from him.

I don’t have a problem naming the practice fields for which Mac paid to improve after the person he wishes. And DD did enough to earn that name, at least until another donor comes along with more money willing to buy the name for someone else!

It is certainly no secret we need big donors. But there is a difference in smiling at someone and being a prostitute!

Even though some may perceive Mac as having held the athletic department hostage, I think it's still worth having respect for someone who had given so much to the university. He appears to sincerely feel that Coach Dickey was the best thing for North Texas. Based on what I have observed, I have to disagree. And that may have been an oversight by Coach Dickey. I think everyone would agree he was bad at PR. Unfortunately that is a really big part of the job.

I think it is also unfortunate that Mac is not looking forward. Every time there is a situation like this, there are those who move on and those who regress and agonize about it. Nothing good comes to the ones who regress and do the agonizing. Mac clearly has some qualities a a leader. I hope that he will turn his energies toward building a successul FUTURE for North Texas.

THE houston bold did not fold because they didn't want Mac to sponsor it. They wanted to move from the 750k bottome feeder and he wasn't willing to go any higher. Plus, he might have pulled his sponsorship anyway since many of the games were bombs on tv and at the gate.

See that's the craziest thing about the last few years. Simon was fired b/c he HATED the schedule and Helwig wouldn't make it any lighter for him. Simon didn't rant and rave in the media the way DD did, but DD didn't used to out and out complain about the schedule either---until recent times. DD was brought in and did nothing but beat the spread in every body bag game. The way the DD hire looked to most of us (until the bowl run started) was that DD was brought in to do nothing but play the paycheck games to earn some $$ for the AD and then try to build a decent team out of local recruits. Something changed in the last 2 years, though....we can't beat the spread to save our lives and we don't recruit well locally....
