I was wondering if anyone has seen fellow NT alumn Dave Barnett lately? Seems in the past he was always doing the games on the duece for tues or thurs games. I have yet to see him this year. Did he get demoted to the espn gameplan games ?

I noticed the TX HS playoff bracked came out this morning in the DMN. I see in 5A Div I we are going to have SLC vs. Euless Trinity.WoW!!! What a 2nd round game.. Who ya'll got ???

I love High School football, but the BCS looks genious compared to the screwed up, "let everyone in the playoffs" system Texas has created. 4 teams from each district now get in. There are teams in the playoffs that have a 2 - 8 record. The fact that SLC and Trinity will play in the SECOND round is stupid. Oh well, they will probably add a 5th team in due time. Other states seem to find a way to add another classification, wonder why Texas can't?

The Div I & Div II crap Ill never understand. We have 2 different teams from the same classification claiming their the champions????

And, you can actually have (which we had several years ago I believe) two teams from the same DISTRICT, with state titles in the same year, just different classifications. Yea, I am like you, I will never understand that.

I might could understand a "large" and "small" school brackets for 5A, but not for 1A - if you are 1A, all the schools are small.

I saw Dave Barnett at a game earlier this year. I think it was MTSU.

Dave Barnett sat directly in front of me during the MTSU game. He tol me it was the first UNT game he had been to in many years. After that game, it may be a while before he is back again.

Dave Barnett did MLB play-by-play for ESPN. He is currently the voice of the San Antonio Spurs (again). Since basketball season has started you shouldn't be able to see him on ESPN football coverage.

Dave Barnett did MLB play-by-play for ESPN. He is currently the voice of the San Antonio Spurs (again). Since basketball season has started you shouldn't be able to see him on ESPN football coverage.

I saw Dave on TV this past weekend calling the Big 10 game....Michigan - Northwestern, I believe

Can't believe 4 teams now go to playoffs. Must be due to the almighty dollar. This makes for very boring 1st round games. HS playoffs dont get good until 2nd or 3rd round. The Celina teams that won 4 straight State Championships played 64 games in four years. That is equivalent to 6.4 seasons for most teams. Too much football at HS level. Guess the kids that have four championship rings did not complain. Just their parents having to buy four rings in a row. Ouch!

That will be an interesting game. However, the game I want to see is SLC and Lufkin. Saw Lufkin and Longview on the Thursday night game earlier in season. Lufkin is full of D-1 athletes. It will be precision/execution against speed/athleticism. Hope they play the game at a large venue. I would guess 30K + fans will want to see that game. I love HS Football!!

I don't really see any team beating SLC this year or next year for that matter. I think Dodge will leave with an unbeaten streak somewhere around 70+. Wish the state of Texas would have allowed them to play Springdale last year at the end of the playoffs.

And I'd have taken SLC by 30+, just like I will against Euless "Little Samoa" Trinity. They're obscene good.
