I don't know how you feel about it but this song is wayyyyyyyyyyy old and dated. I would like to have a new rally song, if that is what it is, played at our home games by our band.

ideas?

There's nothing wrong with the song - it's the arrangement - or lack thereof - that's the problem. The same short section is played over and over, like a broken record (now I'm dating myself!).

Check out the wiki on "Fly Like an Eagle" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fly_Like_an_Eagle - someone included North Texas in it! If we're the only university who uses it, I think that's a good reason to keep it. You can't complain that we stole this tradition from another school.

And I like the lyrics - http://www.gangster-of-love.com/songflae.html - yes, kind of utopian, but it has a can-do attitude that I think is fitting for NT.

Change and Tradition are two separate things.  Leave our Traditions ALONE!

Alright, I will compromise. I can respect your opinion on traditions. Keep "Fly like an Eagle" but you got to modernize the game experience to appeal to the young crowdwho we are counting on to fill seats. In game music selections are a way to pump up the crowd and "Fly" is a serene song.

I agree,

We have the best drum line in the country, we need some rippin beats that get the students up and movin. The Akron drum line seemed to play the entire game, and the student section was having a blast, jumping, spinning, throwing their hands in the air.

I also think we need to borrow some English soccer songs and have the whole stadium singing.

No one in America does that, it could be our borrowed/original tradition.
