Dickey won't be back as UNT coach

North Texas athletic director Rick Villarreal on Wednesday announced that head football coach Darrell Dickey will not return for the 2007 season.

Dickey is excpected to coach the Mean Green for the final three games this season.

Dickey led UNT to the Sun Belt Conference title and a berth in the New Orleans Bowl for four consecutive seasons from 2001 to '04. Dickey is 41-62 overall at UNT. The Mean Green finished 2-9 last season and is 2-7 this season.

Dickey, 46, suffered a heart attack last month and missed one game.

The last podcast told us how this probably wouldn't happen for financial reasons. Based on your track record, yall need to address how the stadium won't happen for financial reasons...and then we can step back and revel in the power of the podcast.

I wish Coach Dickey and his family the best -- whereever he goes.

For the sake of our program, I'm glad that this decision was made earlier rather than later. Let's hope this recharges our program in the coming year.

Disgusted by the Offense at Tulsa. I believe if he had fired the O-line coach after the stAte game that he may have held on for one more year. Best news for me is that there is no way the new coach will hang on to Harold Etheridge.
