Okay for all the Haters out there for Meager, remember this.. As a junior Meager was 1 of the top 5 rated HS QBs in the state. Had an offer from Virgina Tech before he broke his leg in his junior year.

My point is , There is not a QB in the country who could help us. Every defense that we play know what we are about to do. No matter who our QB is they are forced to run on 1st down , lose 3 yards. Run on 2nd down , lose 2 yards . We are constanly in 3rd and long and D's just have to put 6 - 8 DBs back and only rush a few but can somehow still apply pressure.

Poor coaching only leads to poor play. Even if Bomar ( top rated QB coming out of HS in country ) transfered here and started to play next season we would still suffer a losing season with the same coaching staff.

I agree with you to a point. But even talented players need to be coached in order to succeed. Miami can hand pick whoever they want to play for them, but bad coaching and bad recruiting is hurting them...

You have got to have better blocking before even the best QB in the country can be effective.

We have probably the two fastest QB's in North Texas history in DM and WW. WW's speed took SMU by surprise, but not Tulsa and the rest of our opponents. As a result WW has spent all of his playing time trying to run for his life. DM has done pretty much the same thing.

We have to have better blocking, and a better offensive plan, before our QB's can be more effective.

We have to have coaches (and coaching) that players will respond to.....and that players respect.

better players typicly win even in the face of terrible coaching. If Bomar had come here we would roll thorugh the sunbelt unscaved.

When? After he sits out of football for a year because you can't transfer from one D-1 to another without sitting out a year? I'm sorry, but one player is not going to stop us from letting people score at will, and he's not going to make Jamario run harder.

Flower Mound Marcus quarterback commits to Fresno State

11:12 PM CST on Saturday, November 4, 2006

By DAMON L. SAYLES / The Dallas Morning News

Flower Mound Marcus quarterback Matt Faulkner orally committed to play at Fresno State.

Faulkner (6-3, 184 pounds) has thrown for more than 2,300 yards and 20 touchdowns in his first season as a starter. His 194 completions lead 5A area quarterbacks.

Faulkner also had interest from New Mexico, Washington State, Kansas and Arkansas. Oral commitments are nonbinding. The first day a player can sign a letter of intent is Feb. 7.

I wonder if we even contacted this kid? Then again, if you were and accomplished passer, would you come to North Texas?

Bomar is sitting out this year. If he is otherwise eligible ( grades, etc. ) he would be eligible at UNT next year.

Bomar is staying at SHSU, so do not even try guys, he is enrolled and taking classes currently at SHSU.

He wouldn't come here anyway to play in this style of offense. Coach Evans apparantly knows his family and talked to him, and he chose Sam Houston State. We can forget a blue chipper in this offense.

Yeah, well O.J. Simpson was a great guy until he killed his wife. That changed things a little. So did Meager breaking his leg. Which was the first indication that this kid is as brittle as my 96-year old great grandmother.
