Kragthorpe was on the staff at North Texas - back in 1994-1995.

Following his four-year stint at NAU, Kragthorpe became the offensive coordinator at North Texas in 1994, spending two years with the Mean Green. At North Texas, he coordinated an offense that led the conference in total offense. While there, he coached quarterback Mitch Maher who broke single-season school records for passing yards and total offense. After two seasons, he then moved to Boston College where he spent the 1996 season as quarterback coach, coaching current NFL signal-caller Matt Hasselbeck.

Speaking of BC, why not Flutie for no logical reason?

I'm sure his experience in the metroplex last night impressed him enough to want to join this local college football hotbed....

Our best selling point? A 100% certifiable lack of Craig James. Top that, ESPN.

On a serious note, BC is not a bad program to emulate. Always seem to have had a good coach one way or another, always seems to be a top 20 team at the end of the year, wins bowl games, etc. They also have great academics and made their ACC move mostly to join a more complete (athletics and academics) conference. They never have the best talent and always seem to win more than they look like they should on paper.

Kragthorpe wouldn't leave being head coach in CUSA to be head coach in the SunBelt. Our conference hurts us as bad as our stadium.

I'd also rather have a more "name" coach; someone who disassociated fans could recognize and want to come back to see at NT...yes, like a Hayden Fry type.

We have to get the fan base interested in NT football again. Only a noticeable change will do it.

You all that wouldn't take Kragthorpe are crazy. I think the positive from this article is that we could find a good coordinator from a major college, lure him to Denton and its family appeal, close to the Metroplex and the recruiting/media opportunities, get the administration to commit to continued facilities improvement and a new stadium and offer him an incentive laden contract based upon ticket sales, MGC memberships and success on and off the field.
