Aside from the SMU win, this season has been like watching and listerning to water torture. I cannot believe we put ourselves through watching this predictable and piss poor coaching...the worst in our history. Think about it:

On the good side:

Yeah, Dickey won us 4 straight SBC titles, and 4 appearance in the New Orleans Bowl, winning once and getting trounced in the other three.

Yeah, Dickey was at the helm when we beat hapless Baylor (52-14) in 2003.

On the bad side:

Under Dickey's coaching, we suffered the worst defeat in Fouts Field history, losing 54-2 to Tulsa in our opener last fall. We suffered our worst conference loss in Fouts Field History when we got trounced 35-0 by the MUTS this season.

And, also under Dickey, we finally won 25-22 over FIU in 7 overtimes. Ugh! Ugh!

So, now we are expected to get excited about our home game this Saturday vs Louisiana Tech. I'll be there because I'm stupid, and want somewhere to go just to get our of the house. I'm certainly not expecting us to win or even be competitive.

Are you listening, Rick V. I am a dedicated fan and proud alum of our university, but I will no longer support such poor preparation and such stupid coaching. I'm sorry Coach Dickey suffered a heart attack, and glad he's on the mend. I mean that,, I wish him the best in his next endeavor, but it cannot be in coaching UNT!

I was a grad student when the vote to continue football was presented to the student body. The reason, IMHO, it passed was that those of us who wanted football voted -- the rest didn't. We thought everyone understoood that this is Texas and in Texas Football rules. However, we never understood that the university and university decision makers would ignore our belief in the ability of the University to make a national name for the school outside of the College of Music.

How wrong we were and now we see that the Univeristy is driving the stake into the heart of football at UNT. sad.gifsad.gif

Sad to say, I no longer even expect to see UNT return to 2A competion. I think the lights of Fouts are fading quickly and the SuperPit's death is not to far behind. What a shame. mad.gifmad.gif

I was not going to go to the La Tech game, but I think I just might go back after missing the last 4 home games just see if this coaching looks as pathetic in person as it sounds on the radio. I am sure sitting in the stadium I will remind myself that I actually paid money to go watch it. Where do you sit GGII - I might have to come meet you.
