We have about 50 people who spend much of their time chasing their tails and attending conferences designed to show them how to fund raise, should they decide to work on any given day.

Typically, they involve a two-year "quiet" phase, for lining up top donors and securing about one-quarter of the goal. After that, the public phase typically lasts five years.

How long have we been in the quiet phase? If we were to start today, it be 2013 before the fund rasing is complete and 2015+ before the new stadium would be completed.

"Typically, 80 percent of a college's fundraising comes from 20 percent of the donors..."

Looks like someone pulled the magic 80/20 rule out of their butt for that factoid. Even if t's true, it doesn't mean you just leave 20% on the table. Besides, who says we have to have a 'typical' fund-raising program? The bottom line: UNT needs to build connections with MORE students, alumni and members of the community.

--The more supporters you have the more likely you are to go "ka-ching". We need better alumni support... you never know which one might be some of ones to contribute. just because they don't have a lot of extra cash today doesn't mean they won't in the future.
