I have received several requests to see a copy of the letter Coach Dickey wrote to the DRC. This is a copy of the letter which ran in the DRC Monday edition.

***********************************************

I continue to be amazed and touched by the quality people that make up the University of North Texas and the Denton community. During my 9 years here we have shared both good times and tough times. The loyal support displayed by the Mean Green family is at its strongest during tough times and this occasion is no different.

Even before the most recent situation with my health, as our season was progressing, the many calls, letters and messages from our fans have been very supportive and positive. Their support continues to remind me of how proud I am to be the football coach at North Texas.

Since my health incident, the response of these same people and many others has been overwhelming and my family and I have been deeply touched, motivating me even more to get back out there and lead a football program the university and the community can be proud to support. I just wanted to say thank you and

Go Mean Green!

I will say that we have seen a different side of Dickey since his health problems began. The old Dickey would have never written/said anything like this. More than anything its not Dickey as a person I have a problem with. The few times I have met him he has been very nice. The problem I have with DD is purely as a coach. I'm watching the Lufkin-Woodlands game on TV right now and Lufkin runs a more complicated offense and gives more looks on defense than we do. Back on topic though I am glad Dickey reached out to the DFW and UNT community with this letter, class move.

After reading this and what he said on MeanGreenSports, I'm going to bite my tongue for a bit and pray that he can get these players motivated. I'll now project all my frustrations on Etheridge, the O-line coach.
