unsure.gif Things I miss .......and Things I want (to see again)

1. I miss the team that used to cheer and support each other when things were UP and DOWN...yelling,banging, patting each others asses.....solid support for each other and I MEAN THE KIND VISABLE FROM THE STANDS !!!!. We seem to have lost that on the field FIRE.....they look like a group of strangers waiting for a ride at the bus stop.........dont even look at each other.....Seems like we're missing some leadership amoung the players themselves and nobody is gonna step up. Somebody has to lose..I get that........but when it's us, I want somebody MAD about it.....not a mob of slinkers dejectedly walking away into the tunnel. Think back to Blount, Hurd,Spencer,Kassell,Hall,Hickman,Galbraith,Booger !!!!! High energy !!!!!! I miss that stuff !!!!

2. mad.gif I want to see plays called that have a damn history of working in the actual situation it's designed for....I dont give a flying (brown thang) what the formation is or howmany sets the play can be ran from......If it's a play to get 10-15 yards and we Never Ever in our history of winning or losing EVER get more than 4...what the f#@k are we running it when we need 15+ yards for. Lets say for example sake we have approx 75 plays...and only 8 of them EVER get us 10+ yards....then why dont we pick from those 8...and only those 8...that have a chance to work..........cause friends, those other 67 sets/plays etc.....aint gettin it done !!!!! at least with our present personnel....and to continue to do so is unfair to the team.....I'm sure they are just as tired of the same wastes.

3. Lastly....I'm not a coach basher..I have Div1 (SEC) coach in my family....I see a different side to this thanmost fans...BUT I do have probs w/coaching styles. If the Dickey era ends.,N ORTH TEXAS needs to hire a "Jimmy Johnson" type....somebody who spews fire and damn-nation over "half-assed" attitude.....And maybe even sling some furniture (so to speak) I dont want any more camera shots of a statue chewing gum !!!!! NORTH TEXAS needs somebody who will also kick a coaches ass too !!!! I'd have loved to have heard glass breaking and a body come flying out of the pressbox last nite for the coach that missed the call down to the field over that missed non-call when the QB passed over the scrimmage line and almost did us in.....(or did do us in)

I feel so much better now.....thank you.

Is it just me or do we have to be leading the nation in 3rd and Long situations ???? And im not talking about from the defensive side of the ball , though we probably lead the nation in second and short for our opponent!

It was called stumble, fumble. and fall. We carried it out to perfection. laugh.gif

Oh man what a great post. I'll add my own reminisce to this:

1. The 2002 NMSU game. That game was so see-saw. Anyone ever remember seeing heads hanging everytime the Aggies took the lead? I sure as heck don't.

2. Booger. I know some of you might knock on me for living in the past. But I'm not dwelling on a guy who had talent and intangibles. I'm dwelling on a player that worked his a$$ off on every play, and shot a lightning bolt of energy across the field into the heart of every player wearing green. Boy I loved seeing that. How 'bout those celebrations that Kassel/Spencer displayed every time a play was made?

3. How much did those players who shared the field with Scott Hall (and Andrew Smith, for that matter. RIP) actually HATE losing? When those guys returned to practice following a loss, you can bet there was some blood shed and effort fueled by anger and focus. And those guys didn't just hate losing, they had fun and LOVED playing the game; appreciated every second of it. They weren't giving a rats behind what the media thought of them in the Sun Belt, or where they ranked among the D-1 ranks.

I was there for the '01 win over MTSU that started that whole run, and I came to town a couple weeks ago to witness an ugly win over FIU that I thought for sure would turn the corner like the former. While that hasn't been the case, I'll keep watching. Waiting and hoping for that one moment where we turn to the upside...permanently.

Well you are right, we definately carried it out to perfection. What a great call. I wonder how many times they had to run that in practice to make it perfection? I hope we can find a good time to use it again this week - and hopefully it will be as pretty this week as it was last week. That play was a thing of beauty.

      Eric Morris needs to go

      I am torn on what to do with EM, but I know he needs to go. Many say we need a HC with head coaching experience at the FBS level. I know there are HCs at other FBS programs doing more with less, but would they come to a place where historically it's difficult to win consistently and risk it all if their eye is ultimately on a power conference job? Then if you take a P4 conference former HC, they have most likely been fired and they may not get the mojo back like Tom Herman at FAU or Charlie Strong. So, if that is the case where do we go? Many are saying no FCS HC or no more coordinators who have not been a HC at this level. Again where do we go if not those type of guys? My thought is that you may have to hire that guy that this board has been reluctant to go after. That's the guys who have had issues somewhere else and that's why they are no longer where they are. Lane Kiffin had issues and FAU gave him the chance to resurrect his career. Alabama gave Sarkisian (spelling) a chance to resurrect his career and he is doing good things at Texas. We have tried a lot of things, but we have not tried that route of HCs with some skeletons in their past. I feel that if that coach wins, people will forget about their past. I am sure people at Texas have forgotten about what went down with Sark at USC. Just my opinion because we have been striking out for a long time on HCs.

      Eric Morris needs to go

      I'm not sure what the path is for Cobbs long term. A lot of us would absolutely love to have him in a HC role in Denton, but we want to see him gain HC experience first. Do we take a chance and give him that crown? Do we watch him leave, and possibly not return...ever?
